Although mandolin is an Italian word and the instruments are traditionally associated with Italy, there is a well established traditional of mandolin making (and playing) in Japan. We have a gorgeous example of Japanese mandolin making in the shop at the moment. The woodwork and detailing on this vintage instrument are simply beautiful.
